🎮 AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative | the second half of a dead body (split vertically down the middle) is found in an empty sports stadium. the first half showed up during a live game show taping, 6 years prior. in both cases, the time of death was within the past 24 hours. queue investigation of the half-body serial killings. this game is bonkers. there's superpowered children, a guy whose reaction time increases whenever he sees a nudie mag, human experimentation, and what I’m p sure is mutual romantic feelings between a detective and his AI eyeball? i really enjoyed it. and somehow the big twist (that the halves of the bodies weren’t all found 6 years apart and that, due to clone shenanigans, the timeline being implied was totally wrong) really worked. I feel like, under any other circumstances, that would feel cheap as hell, but as presented i was really just delighted. well, confused, but then delighted. they really did the work to set the mystery up in a way that led the player to believe it, but when i thought back and read up, i couldn’t find anything that made it feel truly unfair, they really used that for all it was worth, too. i liked it a lot. took me a couple of days.
